While some rooms and exhibits of the Museum were damaged in 2015 earthquake, most of the place has been restored, which makes it perfect for a visit. The palace, which surrounds Keshav Narayan Chowk is perhaps best known for its art, symbolism as well as architecture. Golden Temple (Hiranya Varna Mahavihar): (1.6 km/ 20 mins walk)
It is a famous Buddhist monastery, known for its beautiful golden façade, intricate wood carvings, and peaceful atmosphere. Built in the 12th century, it is one of the most famous and important monasteries in the city that shows about the rich history and culture of Buddhism in Nepal.
The temple has undergone several renovations and expansions over the centuries. It is dedicated to the Buddhist deity Avalokiteshvara and is one of the few Buddhist monasteries in Nepal that has a rich collection of precious metals like gold, silver and copper. The walls of the temple are adorned with beautiful wood carvings and frescoes, depicting scenes from the life of the Buddha and other important Buddhist figures.

Mahabuddha Temple (Mahaboudha Temple): (2.5 km/ 32 mins walk)
It is a Buddhist temple made entirely of terracotta bricks, which are engraved with thousands of images of Buddha on its walls. The temple was built in the 14th century and is an important site for both the religious and Newari architectural reasons.

Krishna Mandir: (1.8 km/ 23 mins walk)
A 17th-century temple which is located in the middle of Patan Durbar Square is dedicated to Lord Krishna, with intricate carvings and beautiful stone sculptures. The temple is built in Shikhara style, which was imported from India. The place has second floor pillar, which is one of the most notable things about this Mandir or temple.

Kumbeshwar Temple: (1.7 km/ 21 mins walk)
It is a Hindu temple known for its beautiful architecture and intricate wood carvings.Kumbeshwor Mahadev is the surrounded by many other shrines such as the temple of Bangalamukhi, Hariti temple, and Narayan temple. The holy water shrine is located at the north-west of the temple which is believed to have water coming from the lake of Gosaikunda. . It is said that bathing in the temple is as meritorious as bathing in the lake itself.

Pimbahal Pokhari: (1.3 km/ 17 mins walk)
This pond is a great place to relax. It was built in 14th century. On the north side of the pond, there is a Chandeswari Temple and also near the pond there is a Buddhist stupa.

Rudravarna Mahabihar: (2.6 km/ 33 mins walk)
It is a historic Buddhist monastery which is used for major coronation ceremonies throughout the year. The walls and altars of this place are quite popular for the statues and plenty of golden ornamentation.

Jawalakhel Zoo: (1.7 km/ 22 mins walk)
The only zoo in Nepal, Central Zoo is known for its collection of rare animals and birds. It is a home to over 850 animals, which represent more than a 100 species. The zoo has over 35 endangered local species, including Indian one-horned rhinoceros and Royal Bengal Tigers. It is also the home to ostriches and hippos. The place is a birdwatcher’s paradise as well. Here you can enjoy watching the Asian elephant, rock python, Chinese Alligator, cobra, monitor lizard, turtles and African grey parrots among other animals.

Bungamati: (8 km/ 2 hours walk)
It is a traditional Newari village, known for its beautiful architecture, wood carvings, and pottery. It is also famous for the Machhindranath (Karunamaya) temple. Machhindranath is a popular deity in Newari culture and is known as a god of rain and compassion. One of the most significant events associated with the temple is the annual chariot festival/ Jatra. During the festival, a large wooden chariot is pulled through the streets of Patan and thousands of people gather to celebrate the occasion.

Khokana: (5.7 km/ 1.15 hours walk)
It is a traditional Newari village known for its mustard oil production and traditional Newari Architecture and lifestyle. The village has number of beautiful temples, including Karya Binayak temple dedicated to lord Ganesha.
